Now that I've been home for a week...

...I thought I would go ahead and post the last few days of my trip to the East Coast. Sorry this has taken so long. Once I got home last Thursday night, I wanted to do nothing but spend time with my family before I had to go back to work on Monday...I'm sure you understand.

The last few days of our trip was great, of course. As you will see, we headed into Philadelphia and then on to New York City. Philadelphia is a great experience. To view the city as it must have been when it served as our provincial capitol. We were able to take a walking tour of the historic district. Our guide gave us a tremendous perspective of life in the city, especially during the Revolution. I was able to take some time and go inside of "Independence Hall" and be in the room where our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution...WOW!! The chair that George Washington sat in is still in the room!

We then moved on to New York City. Now this is where I shoot myself in the foot. On the day that we go to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Empire State Building, and so much more, I FORGOT THE BATTERY TO MY CAMERA!!! I may have just jumped into the harbor on that 30 degree day. Also, I won't mention that I didn't even get to go to Federal Hall (where George Washington was sworn in as the first president), the Stock Exchange, Ground Zero, and Christ Church. Needless to say, New York City was not the highlight of my trip. But I was able to capture a few pictures on the last night and day we were in town to share with you.

All in all, this was a fantastic trip, and I would recommend it to anyone! In fact, if you have the time, money, and energy to spend with 8th, 11th, and 12th graders, we will be going again, February 17-27, 2009! Come and join us!!

1. Meeting house of the First Continental Congress (1774)
2. Original one-way cobblestone street in Philadelphia.
3. Betsy Ross' house
4. Burial site of Benjamin Franklin
5. Independence Hall
6. George Washington's chair
7. No explanation needed
8. Time Square
9. Radio City Music Hall
10. Central Park
11. View from the bridge in Central Park

You did get some amazing shots on this trip...seriously, thank you for updating your blog. I know you must have been exhausted each night, but I appreciate you taking the time to take us through your days.

Camm-Mann...thanks for this guided tour thrughout your trip. I felt like I was right there with you. Congrats on another successful trip. When your ready, I'd like to hear about all the "non-historical" events that took place on your trip. You and I both know that when your dealing with high school students ,you can bring home some great stories...those are the ones that I'd like to hear about. The bus rides, the midnight room checks, the walking like sheep, the jokes, the "intelligent" questions....that type of stuff. Feel free to blog those on the next time. Until then, history is what you make it....WHAT!?!?
